Daigenkan (The Grand Entrance)

Daigenkan (The Grand Entrance)
Our karahafu bargeboard is rather unique compared to the original type of karahafu since ours is built with straight boards instead of curved. Such shape is said to resemble hakama, a type of traditional Japanese clothing worn only by men. This entrance was given by the Hikita family in the Edo period and was designated as Japan’s important cultural property in 1966.
